The Write Time
The Write Time is an independent SEN mixed secondary school in South London, catering to students with EHC plans. We believe that academics and personal development go hand-in-hand to promote future success and we strive to meet all of your young person’s needs while helping them achieve.
As an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school, The Write Time works with multiple local authorities across South London, including Croydon, Bexley, Bromley, Lewisham, Merton, Sutton, and Wandsworth. We are passionate about educating the most vulnerable learners from our community in long-term permanent educational settings.
We are the first and only William Glasser Quality School in the UK!
Who we work with
We believe our students deserve to engage in a curriculum including academic, personal & social, and vocational learning. This is why, as an independent school, we work with students with a variety of additional needs, including (but not limited to): ASD, Asperger’s, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, PTSD, Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia.
We recognise that our community’s young learners achieve more through a smaller classroom environment. With this in mind, our classrooms are on average 8 to 10 students supported by a qualified teacher and a Learning Development Tutor. Both staff plan, facilitate and assess as a team, recognising development against individual targets to ensure each student’s unique needs can always be met.
The school is an extremely thoughtful and understanding community where leaders consider the wellbeing of all pupils, parents and carers. They go above and beyond in helping pupils and families in need – Ofsted 2023.
It is a privilege and a pleasure to welcome you to The Write Time Independent School. We are more than just an Independent Special School, we offer a safe and inspiring learning environment where our pupils feel listened to, valued and are provided with the necessary tools to grow and reach their full potential. We know that our pupils need to feel supported; to learn new things, to develop existing understanding, to explore and experience vocational opportunities and to grow aspirations that will see them achieve and be successful as adults.
As the first Glasser School in the UK, we pride ourselves on supporting our pupils using Choice Theory and Reality Therapy as the keys to unlock their potential and achieve their very best. At The Write Time, our dedicated and experienced staff ensure that every pupil follows a bespoke curriculum, one that marries specialist support to an appropriate curriculum that has been purposefully planned to achieve individual goals in academic, vocational and personal development – staff teams focus on EHC targets and ensure that every pupil has access to therapeutic input that meets individual special needs.
At The Write Time, each pupil will work towards achieving a range of externally accredited qualifications, including GCSEs, Functional Skills, Vocational Awards and Certificates and Princes Trust Awards. All pupils will study Maths, English and Science as part of their core curriculum and access the local community to reinforce their learning and experiences.
Our spacious and safe school site enriches our curriculum offer, providing airy learning spaces that enable pupils to fully engage in learning that is experiential, progressive and fully supported by our therapeutic curriculum. The school layout encourages our pupils to feel nurtured, accepted and empowered to take on new challenges throughout their learning journey and be prepared to take their next steps as well-rounded citizens, ready to integrate into society.
The Write Time Independent School Team look forward to welcoming visits from professionals, parents/carers and children. To book a tour of our school, please contact our school office.
“This school is the best thing that has ever happened to our family.”
Are You Ready for
Our school’s ethos and culture are based on William Glasser’s Choice Theory and Reality Therapy. As students learn about Choice Theory, they begin to think more deeply about why they do what they do and begin to adjust their behaviour to get what they really want out of every single day. This results in a more fulfilling life.
